Peace and Development Studies
COURSE OVERVIEW
The Peace and Development Studies course introduces students to the interlinked concepts of peace, conflict, and development at local, regional, and global levels. It examines how sustainable development, good governance, and social justice contribute to building and sustaining peace in societies. The course combines theoretical perspectives with practical approaches, enabling learners to understand root causes of conflict, strategies for peacebuilding, and pathways to inclusive development.
Students will explore the roles of international and regional organizations, civil society, media, and community actors in promoting peace and development. They will also gain practical skills in conflict analysis, mediation, negotiation, project planning, and advocacy.
