Course Overview

This foundational course provides a comprehensive understanding of domestic violence and abuse, including its definitions, forms, prevention, response and the profound impact it has on victims—especially children. Participants will gain insight into the dynamics of abusive relationships, including the power and control cycle, and will learn how to recognize the signs and risk factors associated with domestic violence. Special attention is given to abuse against children, its various forms, and the responsibilities of professionals in identifying and responding to abuse.

Designed for social workers, educators, healthcare providers, law enforcement personnel, and anyone interested in understanding and addressing domestic violence, this course blends theory with real-world applications to empower participants with the tools needed for effective intervention and advocacy.

Assignments

The course includes four practical assignments covering key topics such as recognizing abuse, understanding its impact, assessing risk, and applying intervention strategies. Participants must complete all assignments. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass the course and receive a certificate of completion.
